PURPOSE
There is a commonality undeniably found in every corner of our world: sexual brokenness.
​
The shame smeared across the souls of those who have experienced such on school campuses and violent streets; in brothels and illicit massage businesses; under the roofs of churches and outside of stadiums; those involved in the adult entertainment industry; and those living in one of the millions of abusive homes scattered across the globe, is seemingly boundless.
​
But, do you know what's truly boundless?

God's...
loyal love (Joel 2:13)
riches in Christ (Ephesians 3:8)
strength (Ephesians 6:10)
mercy (1 Peter 1:3)
joy (2 Corinthians 8:2)
and gift of the Holy Spirit (John 3:34).
​
Sexual brokenness is not meant to have the final say on any image bearer's life-- not for the exploited or the exploiter, the humiliated child or the insecure teenager, the regretful spouse or the emotionally distant friend. Rather, it is God's truth that we are to look to in order to know who He is, who we are in Him, and how we are to live so that we may have the freedom and fulfillment that He desires for our relationships.

Truly, God's original, beautifully intentional design is still what each of our souls are made for; His ways-- they're still relevant. So no, the commitment of marriage is not antiquated; yes, purity is still worthwhile; and also yes, promiscuity is most definitely redeemable. No one is too far gone for God to forgive, heal, transform, renew. This is what He is in the business of doing-- dressing us in white thanks to Jesus.

Purity. Righteousness. New beginnings. Everlasting love. Who Jesus is and what He gives.

AVARIE WILSON
Throughout my life, God has given me incredible opportunities to experience first-hand the beautiful contrast of various peoples and cultures that He has made. Through meeting deportees in Mexico; single mothers in the slum communities of the Philippines; refugees in rural provinces of Thailand; those experiencing homelessness in Chicago and Los Angeles; and the fatherless in Haiti, I have continually seen God in new lights. Now I cannot help but put these names and faces to the astonishingly high statistics of issues such as poverty-caused illnesses, child neglect, sexual abuse, and human trafficking. While it is heart wrenching for the negative effects of a fallen world to become so personal, His ever-present, intentional love kindles a desire within me to keep seeking His face and to be a light for others, even in the darkest of places. It is there that I know I would find my suffering Savior if He were walking here today; for He is ever so near to the brokenhearted.
I am a student at Moody Bible Institute, majoring in Pre-Counseling & Human Services and graduating in the fall of 2020.
